Affiliate disclosure

How links that earn commission work here, and what they never influence.

The disclosure in one paragraph

Meridians may earn a commission when a reader buys through certain links on this site. Where a page contains such links, a disclosure appears near the top of that page, before any recommendation. You never pay more because you used one of our links: the commission is paid by the retailer or brand out of their margin, and the price you see is the price you would pay arriving any other way.

What commission does not do

Commission rates play no part in which products we cover, how we rank them, or what we conclude. Nobody on the commercial side sees a verdict before publication or can request a change to one.

We regularly recommend products that earn us nothing, and advise against products that would earn us more. Where a category is still in research, our product slots say so rather than being filled with whichever retailer pays best.

Four kinds of content, always distinguishable

Everything on Meridians falls into one of these, and each is labelled differently.

  • Editorial content: written by a Meridians desk, free of any commercial input. Most of the site.
  • Affiliate links: editorial recommendations whose outbound links may pay a commission. Disclosed at the top of the page.
  • Advertising: display placements sold or served programmatically, visually separated and marked as advertising. Advertisers get no say in surrounding editorial.
  • Sponsored content: paid-for material produced outside the editorial desks, labelled Sponsored and never presented as a Meridians verdict.

Testing claims

We only describe a product as tested where a real test took place, and we say what that test involved. Comparisons built from published specifications, prices and documentation are described as exactly that.

Programmes and questions

We participate in affiliate programmes operated by retailers, brands and affiliate networks. Where a specific relationship could reasonably be perceived as a conflict, we name it on the page concerned. Questions about a commercial relationship: meridians@ad-leaps.com.
