Anthropic locks in gigawatts more compute from Google and Broadcom
The AI lab's latest infrastructure deal follows a $30 billion funding round and revenue that has more than tripled in eight months, and most of the new capacity is going on US soil.

BusinessThe short answer
- Anthropic has expanded its compute partnership with Google and Broadcom by multiple gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, coming online from 2027.
- The company's annualized revenue has grown from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to over $30 billion, with more than 1,000 customers now spending $1M or more a year.
- Most of the new capacity is slated for the United States, continuing a $50 billion domestic infrastructure commitment made in November 2025.
- Anthropic's CFO frames the deal as disciplined scaling, but the pace of similar deals across the industry says as much about anticipated demand as it does about caution.
Anthropic has signed a new agreement with Google and Broadcom for multiple gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, extending a partnership the three companies first expanded earlier this year. The new infrastructure is expected to come online starting in 2027 and will power Anthropic's frontier Claude models.
The numbers behind the deal
- Multiple gigawatts of additional TPU capacity, coming online from 2027.
- Most of the new capacity will be sited in the United States.
- Part of a broader $50 billion commitment to US AI infrastructure that Anthropic made in November 2025.
- Follows an earlier 2026 expansion of the same Google-Broadcom partnership, reported at roughly 3.5 gigawatts.
Why Anthropic needs it
The company's run-rate revenue has grown from roughly $9 billion at the end of 2025 to more than $30 billion now, and it counts over 1,000 business customers each spending $1 million or more annually. That growth is the immediate justification for locking in compute years ahead of when it is needed.
“This groundbreaking partnership with Google and Broadcom is a continuation of our disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure.”
The bigger picture
Anthropic is not alone in signing multi-year, multi-gigawatt compute commitments; it is one of several frontier labs doing so this year, alongside major cloud providers who are themselves racing to build capacity. Google and Broadcom have their own commercial reasons to publicize deals of this size. None of that makes the numbers untrue, but it is a reason to read the announcement as much as a signal to competitors and investors as a straightforward capacity update.
What to watch
The capacity does not arrive until 2027, and neither Anthropic nor its partners have published the unit economics behind deals of this scale. Revenue growth and compute commitments are both real; whether they stay in proportion is the open question.
