AGA and La Cornue Recall Nearly 4,000 Luxury Ranges Over Gas Leak Risk

A missing cap on the gas test port can let gas escape, the CPSC says. The $6,000-to-$20,000 ranges can still be used — but only on the electric oven side — until a free repair is made.

The short answer

  • AGA Rangemaster is recalling about 3,992 dual-fuel ranges in the U.S. and several hundred more in Canada, covering the AGA Elise and Mercury series and La Cornue CornuFe and Albertine models made between March 2025 and July 2026.

If you own a luxury AGA or La Cornue dual-fuel range bought in the last year and a half, stop using the gas burners today. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says a manufacturing gap can leave a gas test port uncapped, and that can let gas leak into your kitchen.

  • AGA Mercury Series — models AMC36DF and AMC48DF
  • La Cornue CornuFe 90 (LAC9) and CornuFe 110 (LAC1)
  • La Cornue Albertine (Canada)
  • Manufactured March 19, 2025 through July 24, 2026
  • About 3,992 units sold in the U.S.; roughly 260 to 336 in Canada, depending on the regulator's count

The hazard

The CPSC's notice is direct: a "missing cap from the gas test port can cause a gas leak, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire or explosion hazards." Health Canada describes the same defect as a missing "gas manifold testing component" that should have been sealed after installation pressure-testing. Both regulators say no incidents or injuries had been reported as of mid-August 2026.

What to do right now

Shut off the range's gas supply immediately. The CPSC says the electric oven sections remain safe to use on their own — it's specifically the gas surface burners that need to stay off. Find your model and serial number on the rating plate under the storage drawer, then check agarangeusa.com/testcap-recall or lacornueusa.com/testcap-recall, or call AGA Rangemaster at 888-257-7912 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday) to arrange a free inspection and repair by a certified technician.

These are expensive, long-lived appliances, so if you bought one through an authorized AGA or La Cornue dealer any time in the last year and a half, it's worth checking the model number even if nothing seems wrong.
