What happens between a product arriving and a verdict publishing.
The stages
Every tested product moves through the same sequence.
- Category definition: who the buyer is, what matters, and what will be measured.
- Comparison set: the products that will be tested against each other, fixed in advance.
- Standardised tests: repeatable measurements under controlled conditions.
- Lived testing: extended everyday use, because most failures are not visible in a lab.
- Cross-check: a second desk member reviews the evidence behind each claim.
- Publication: findings, limitations and comparison set published together.
What we disclose about limits
No test programme covers everything. Every review states its test duration, sample size and the conditions we could not reproduce — long-term durability being the most common gap in early reviews.
