DR Power Equipment has recalled about 320 of its PRO MAX30 walk-behind lawn mowers after 19 reports that the blades kept operating even after the operator released the control — a direct violation of the federal safety standard written to prevent exactly that. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall August 6, 2026; Health Canada recalled an additional 9 units sold there on July 30.
The standard this mower didn't meet
Federal law requires walk-behind power mowers to stop their blades within seconds of the operator releasing the control bar — the mechanism that's supposed to prevent injury the moment someone lets go of the handle. The CPSC says the recalled mowers can fail that requirement outright: the blades can run without the control engaged at all, or keep spinning after it's released.
