The bread went on sale August 10, 2026, at four Grand Central Bakery café locations — Burien, Eastlake, Wallingford and Wedgwood — and at grocery retailers across the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, including Central Co-op, Fred Meyer, Hilltop Red Apple, Ken's Markets, Marketime Foods, PCC Markets, QFC, Town & Country Market, Thriftway, Whole Foods Market, Yakima Fruit Markets and Metropolitan Market.

The recall notice says a pallet nail was discovered in a loaf of Potato Sourdough bread, without detailing how the nail ended up in the product. Grand Central Bakery says no injuries or illnesses have been reported. Customers with questions can reach the company at 503-232-0575, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific.
What to do if you bought it
The FDA advises anyone who bought any of the three products to not eat it and to throw it away. The recall applies regardless of whether the loaf shows visible damage, since the nail was found in only one identified loaf.
