Toyota is recalling 508,354 Camry Hybrids from the 2025 and 2026 model years in the United States because the instrument cluster can fail to light up at startup. It is a software defect rather than a broken part, but the consequences reach beyond the display itself: when the meter goes blank, the turn signal lamps, the hazard lamp function and certain warning buzzers stop working too.

What fails, and why it matters

The affected cars use a 7-inch combination meter running software from one specific supplier. In Toyota''s description of the defect, a blank meter reduces the driver''s ability to see what the warning telltales are indicating — and, because the indicators fail with it, reduces other road users'' ability to see which way the driver intends to turn. Both directions of that problem raise crash risk, which is why it is a recall rather than a service campaign.
