What Apple has actually confirmed

Apple's Developer newsroom announced a "Surprise and Shine" event for September 9, 2026 at 10 a.m. PT, to be streamed on apple.com, the Apple TV app and YouTube. The announcement went out August 26, 2026. Apple marketing SVP Greg Joswiak posted: "Surprise and shine! It's almost time for the #AppleEvent, on Wednesday, September 9!"

The first event under new leadership

This is the first Apple product event since a leadership transition confirmed in Apple's own April 2026 newsroom release: Tim Cook became Executive Chairman and John Ternus became CEO, effective September 1, 2026, in a board-approved succession.

What outlets expect — not confirmed by Apple

  • iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max (rumored): an A20 Pro chip on a 2nm process, a new C2 modem, possible under-display Face ID, a variable-aperture rear camera on the Pro Max, a "dark cherry" color option, and pricing rumored to run roughly $300 above the iPhone 17 Pro.
  • A first foldable iPhone, sometimes called "iPhone Ultra" (rumored, name unconfirmed): a 7.8-inch internal display, 5.3-inch external display, A20 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, dual 48MP rear cameras, and estimated pricing between $2,000 and $2,500.

What's reportedly not coming

Outlet reporting describes a standard iPhone 18, an iPhone 18e and an iPhone Air 2 as delayed to spring 2027 under what one outlet calls a "split-launch strategy." An Apple Watch SE 4 is not expected in 2026, and new Macs are considered unlikely to appear at this particular event.
