Why Delta says it's cutting them

"Delta continually evaluates its network to ensure we're offering a schedule that best meets customer demand," the airline said in a statement reported alongside the cuts. "We apologize for any inconvenience and will contact impacted customers directly about these changes." For the Las Vegas routes specifically, Delta pointed to softer winter demand, projecting about 7% fewer Las Vegas departures than the prior winter season. Coverage of the cuts also cites a broader slowdown in Las Vegas tourism: roughly 38.5 million visitors in 2025, down 7.5% year-over-year.

What's not going away

Delta says it will bring back limited Las Vegas-to-Southern-California service in early January, timed to demand around CES, the annual electronics trade show. And despite ending the JFK-Milwaukee route, Delta is keeping four daily round-trip flights between LaGuardia and Milwaukee — so New York-to-Milwaukee travelers aren't losing the market, just that specific airport pairing.
