Why it was pulled

The company says the recall follows complaints of metal fragments found in the product. The FDA notice warns that metal contamination can cause choking, mouth or gastrointestinal lacerations, and in some cases intestinal obstruction. Dogs that ate the affected product may show vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort. As of the announcement, no illnesses or injuries had been reported.

Where it was sold

The recalled cans were distributed through neighborhood pet stores and online retailers in the U.S. and Canada. Fromm says it has identified the cause internally and put corrective measures in place to prevent a repeat, though it has not detailed publicly what those measures are.
