- The recall followed a consumer complaint; the FDA collected and tested a sample of the product before confirming contamination. Three dog illnesses have been reported.

How it was found
The FDA received a consumer complaint, then collected and tested a sample of the product, which came back positive for Salmonella. Three dog illnesses have been reported in connection with the product. Oma's Pride says it is continuing to investigate the source of the contamination.
Symptoms to watch for
In dogs: lethargy, diarrhea (which may be bloody), fever, vomiting, decreased appetite and abdominal pain. In people who handle contaminated pet food: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever; rare complications include arterial infections, arthritis and urinary tract symptoms.

- Stop feeding it to your dog immediately and dispose of it safely
- Do not donate or resell the product
- Wash and sanitize your dog's bowls and your own hands after handling
