Galanz Recalls 121,680 Retro Refrigerators After 34 Fires and One Death

Internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite, the CPSC says. The units were sold at Home Depot and on Amazon for more than three years before the recall.

Galanz has recalled about 121,680 of its retro-style refrigerators after 34 reported fires and one confirmed death, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced July 30, 2026. The agency says internal electrical components in the units can short circuit and ignite.

Which units are affected

  • Models BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER and GLR76TWEER, with date codes from December 2018 through December 2020
  • Sold in black, blue, red and white; about 58 inches tall, 24 inches deep and 21 inches wide, with a top freezer and one drawer
  • Sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and on Amazon.com from January 2019 through September 2022, for $330 to $520

The CPSC says consumers should stop using the recalled refrigerators and unplug them immediately, then contact Galanz to schedule a free in-home repair by a qualified technician.
