FamilyThe short answer
- The CPSC recalled about 8,000 Squeezy Dumplings toys sold on Amazon and about 7,200 Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys sold at other retailers, both because internal water beads expand beyond the legal limit for toys.
- CPSC says swallowed water beads can cause choking, intestinal blockage, severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration and death.
- No injuries have been reported for either product, per CPSC recall notices dated September 3, 2026.
- Both recalls ask owners to mark the toy RECALLED, dispose of it, and email a photo to the seller for a refund.
Two children's squeeze toys sold widely online are being recalled because the water beads packed inside them can expand past a size that's safe if a child swallows one. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says both can cause choking, intestinal blockage and, in the worst case, death.
The two recalls
- Squeezy Dumplings — about 8,000 units, sold on Amazon.com by seller Chenyuanhui between May and June 2026 for about $20. Made and imported by Xiamen Liuhui Electric Technology Co., Ltd.
- Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys (model D08004) — about 7,200 units, made and imported by OKK Trading Inc. of Vernon, California, and sold at various third-party retailers nationwide from May to August 2026.
Both recall notices, dated September 3, 2026, use nearly identical language: the water beads inside expand and can pose deadly ingestion, choking, and intestinal obstruction hazards inside a child's body, resulting in severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and a risk of death to a child. The two recall numbers, 26-737 and 26-738, were issued the same day — alongside a separate recall of Skip Hop Elmo teethers issued that same week — suggesting CPSC processed several children's-product cases from the same enforcement push.
What to do if you have one
- Stop letting your child use the toy immediately.
- Mark it RECALLED in permanent marker and throw it away — CPSC does not recommend returning it to the store.
- Email a photo of the marked, discarded toy to the manufacturer (recall@okktoys.com for the OKK Trading toy) to receive a full refund; the Squeezy Dumplings recall lists a similar photo-verification process through the Amazon seller.
