A small batch of baby walkers sold on Target.com this summer has been recalled because it fails a federal safety standard specifically designed to prevent one of the most common infant walker injuries: rolling down a flight of stairs.

The hazard
According to the CPSC, the walkers "can fit through a standard doorway and fail to stop at the edge of a step, posing a deadly fall hazard." Federal law requires infant walkers to either be too wide to fit through a standard doorway, or to stop automatically when a wheel goes over the edge of a step — this walker does neither, which is why it violates the mandatory standard. No injuries have been reported.
What to do
Owners should stop using the walker immediately. Kmaier is asking consumers to disassemble it, cut the fabric seat, mark the tray "Recalled" in permanent marker, photograph the destroyed unit, and email the photo to TargetplusSJ@outlook.com to receive a refund.
